StudyVault is a study tool for university exam preparation. It is run by Joseph Okaneme from Lagos, Nigeria, who is the controller of your personal data. This page lists exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We handle your data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
What we collect, and why
| Your account | First name, email address and password. We use these to create your account and log you in. Your password is stored only as a one-way hash by our login service. We cannot read it. |
|---|---|
| Your programme | The programme and level you choose when you set up, and the courses you are enrolled in. We use these to show you the right courses. |
| Phone number (optional) | Only if you add it in Settings. You can leave it blank, change it or remove it at any time. |
| Your study activity | Which lessons you have completed, each practice session you start (course, mode, time and score), and each answer you pick. We use this to show your progress, today’s study plan and your results. |
| Your plan | Whether you are on Free or Premium and the date your Premium ends. We use this to unlock the right content. |
| Technical data | A login cookie that keeps you signed in. Our login service and hosting provider also keep routine security logs, which include your IP address and device details. We use them to keep the service running and secure. |
We do not collect card or bank details. Premium is paid by bank transfer (see the Terms). If you send proof of payment on WhatsApp, we see what is on that receipt, such as the sender’s name and amount, and we use it only to confirm your payment.
We have no advertising, no analytics or tracking tools, and we do not profile you. Your display choices (theme, text size, layout density) are saved only in your own browser and are never sent to us.
Signing in with Google
If you choose “Continue with Google”, Google is used only to log you in and create your account. We ask Google for your basic profile and email address only. We use only your name and email address from your Google account. We do not read your contacts, Gmail, Drive, calendar or anything else in it.
Our login service may keep the other basic details Google sends with a sign-in (for example a profile-picture link or your Google account ID) as part of the login record. We do not use or display them. You can remove StudyVault’s access at any time from your Google Account settings.
Where your data is stored, and who processes it
- Supabase stores the database and runs login. Our database is hosted in Ireland (Amazon Web Services, EU West).
- Vercel hosts the website and receives the requests you make to it.
- Resend delivers the account emails our login service sends.
- Google handles sign-in if you choose Google.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries any message you send us about payment or support.
These providers process data on our behalf and have their own privacy terms. Because they run servers outside Nigeria, your data is transferred out of Nigeria when you use StudyVault.
Who sees your data
Only Joseph Okaneme, who runs StudyVault, and the providers above. I can look up your name, email, sign-up date and plan when activating Premium, and can see your study activity when helping with a problem. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We would disclose it only if the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data and study activity for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it all. Copies in our provider’s routine backups disappear as those backups are replaced. Your bank keeps its own record of any transfer you make.
Deleting your account and your rights
To have your account and data deleted, email studyvault1.support@gmail.com from the email address on the account. We will delete your profile, progress, practice history and login, and reply to confirm, within 30 days.
Under the NDPA 2023 you can also ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong (you can fix your name and phone number yourself in Settings);
- stop or limit how we use your data, or withdraw consent you gave, such as for your phone number.
If you are unhappy with how we handled your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
If you are under 18
StudyVault is made for university students. If you are under 18, please use it with a parent or guardian’s knowledge.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
